Plus, we'll have a short but very informative presentation by Pamela Zevit.
As a Registered Professional Biologist, Pamela's career focus has been on landscape ecology, species at risk and biodiversity conservation. Starting in 1995 she worked as a Conservation Planner for the Province of BC. In 2004 she moved on from government to become an independent adviser, researcher, and consultant. In 2010 she became Program Coordinator for the South Coast Conservation Program, transitioning to her role with Surrey in 2019 leading implementation of the City's Biodiversity Conservation Strategy.
Presentation Synopsis: Surrey is one of the few cities in Canada with a well-developed biodiversity conservation strategy (BCS) and associated long-term habitat connectivity plan (the “green infrastructure network” or GIN). As BC’s second largest municipality, understanding how well biodiversity goals are being achieved within the City is integral to meeting community expectations around conservation. Pamela’s presentation will discuss some of the actions that have been taken to achieve the objectives of Surrey’s BCS as well as learning outcomes as the Strategy nears a decade of implementation.
If you can make it, please RSVP by clicking the blue RSVP button below or by sending a quick email to outreach@drbipa.org.
